Jamestown Settlement will exhibit its 2025 Black Artist Showcase during February 1 to March 2 in celebration of Black History Month, and is seeking adult Virginia artists, working in any medium, to submit their art for consideration.
Originally limited to one weekend, Black Artist Showcase is on extended view during Black History Month in February, connecting the past and present through vivid intersections of contemporary art and 17th-century history.
Jamestown Settlement showcases the cultural legacies of West Central Africans brought to Virginia in the 17th century through immersive gallery exhibits, films and education programs.
Black History Month programs culminate on February 22 with “After Angelo,” a special afternoon event named for one of the first African women in Jamestown, celebrating modern African American life and culture through art, performance and community conversation.
The Black Artist Showcase and After Angelo are supported in part by the Williamsburg Area Arts Commission and the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc. Annual Fund.
