Access/mobility

  • Parking at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is free. Ample designated accessible parking spaces are located near the entrances.
  • All areas of the museums, except on board the ships, are wheelchair accessible. Strollers and wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Both museums have wheelchair-accessible restrooms, water fountains and automatic doorways with one-touch controls.
  • In the museums and outdoor areas, there are brick and gravel paths which vary in evenness.

Accommodations

  • Open-captioned versions of films are shown daily. Assistive-listening systems are available on request.
  • Sign-language interpreters are available with a minimum of two weeks’ advance notice.
  • Trained service animals assisting visitors are allowed throughout the museums.

Helpful information

  • Family restrooms are located at both museums and diaper-changing stations are available in both men’s and women’s restrooms.
  • Light levels in the museum theaters and gallery exhibits will vary in brightness. Some videos contain flashing lights and loud sounds.
  • If you or anyone in your party needs a sensory break space or quiet space, please ask a staff member for an appropriate location.
  • Both museum cafés have vegetarian and gluten-free offerings.
  • If you are unable to reach an item in our museum shops, our staff will be happy to assist you.
  • If you need first aid while at either museum, please alert visitor services staff or security.
