Families and friends can delight in holidays of yesteryear with a blend of today's traditions at A Candlelight Christmas on December 14, 6-8 p.m. at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

Join us for a kid-friendly celebration of the holidays! Meet Santa, make Christmas crafts and hear holiday stories in the warm, modern museum spaces dedicated to telling the revolutionary story of early Virginia.

Enjoy an evening of Christmas cheer in the 18th century strolling through the Continental Army encampment to see how Revolutionary soldiers would have celebrated a holiday evening.

In the Revolution-era farm, see how early Virginians prepared for a holiday evening and made tasty dishes. Listen to traditional holiday music by candlelight from fiddle player David Gardner while enjoying a sweet treat. We'll provide the hot chocolate, cider and cookies.

Sing your favorite Christmas carols, led by living-history interpreter and author Rebecca Suerdieck, in the TowneBank Pavilion.

Visit the Museum Shop to find unique holiday gifts for someone special. 


Join us for a Candlelight Christmas!

Admission is $10 per child, ages 4-12, and $7 per adult (ages 12 and older). Children ages 3 and under are free. Each party must include at least one adult over age 18.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online. Tickets are not available at the door. Annual passes and other discounts do not apply.

Christmastide in Virginia • December 20-31, 2024

Costumed interpreters of the Lord of Misrule and his merry menGlimpse 17th- and 18th-century holiday traditions at both Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown through festive interpretive programs, fancy cooking, caroling and musical entertainment. The holiday festivities happen at both museums from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas Day.

This program is included with museum admission.

Master Storyteller Perry Ground • December 28-29, 2024

A photo of master storyteller Perry Ground with a laughing childJoin us at Jamestown Settlement for a storytelling presentation December 28-29 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. filled with traditional Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) legends that have been told for hundreds of years. The stories teach about the beliefs, customs and history of the Haudenosaunee people. Storyteller Perry Ground brings stories to life through vivid descriptions, rhythmic voice and interaction with guests. 

The storytelling program is included with Jamestown Settlement museum admission.
