At Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, we are committed to exploring our shared history in an environment that is welcoming and respectful.
We ask that visitors:
• Be open to learning in a shared space.
• Create an environment free of harassment and threatening behavior.
• Engage in dialogue without discriminatory language.
• Show respect to staff, fellow visitors and museum property.
We will not tolerate racist, sexist or homophobic comments, vandalism, physical contact or harassment of any kind at our museums. Guests who cannot comply with our code of conduct will be asked to leave the museum premises.
Prohibited Items
We welcome you to our museums and hope you enjoy your visit. For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please note the items prohibited at our museums.
- Weapons, including open and concealed carry firearms, chemicals, explosives, lasers or hazardous materials.
- Smoking, including electronic devices. Designated smoking areas and receptacles are located in front of the museums.
- Food and beverages in the exhibit galleries, theaters and outdoor exhibits. Water is allowed in outdoor areas.
- Abusive, inflammatory or discriminatory actions or language toward museum staff and or others persons.
- Clothing that contains offensive or abusive language or symbols.
- Distribution or display of printed materials of any type unrelated to museum programming or the agency’s educational mission.
- Solicitation or advertising not approved in advance.
- Use of powered and unpowered two-wheeled scooters, skateboards, hoverboards and Segways.
- Operation of drones on museum property.
