Members of The 1607 Society and friends of the museums gathered for a pier-side reception at Jamestown Settlement to wish the Susan Constant bon voyage before it heads to the Mystic Seaport Museum for two years of restoration.

Patron members of The 1607 Society are invited to celebrate the opening of Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design at Jamestown Settlement with a private behind the scenes tour with Ruth E. Carter on Saturday, May 11, 6-7 p.m. Space will be limited.

Honoring the legacy of Nick and Mary Mathews, The Mathews Legacy Society members and friends gathered for our annual Mathews Legacy Society Luncheon held in the Gerdelman Family Mezzanine at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Curated Dinner with Chef Michael W. Twitty

Michael W. Twitty, an African American and Jewish culinary historian and food writer, is one of the most prominent voices in the movement to preserve and promote African American foodways, its parent traditions in the African Diaspora, and its legacy in contemporary southern cuisine. Known for his confessional style and sharp wit, Michael has written multiple award-winning books such as “The Cooking Gene,” which traces his food ancestry from Africa to America and from slavery to freedom, “Rice” and “Kosher Soul.” VIP donors joined Michael for an unforgettable dinner and conversation, and discovered how food is more than sustenance but also a vital connection to our past and to each other.

Picnic on the Pier

Set along the picturesque backdrop of the James River waterfront, Picnic on the Pier was an opportunity to spend time with friends savoring delicious barbecue and beverages from Williamsburg favorites Old City BBQ and The Virginia Beer Company. Live music from Virginia's Blues Ambassador - The Bobby BlackHat Band had toes tapping, fingers popping and hips shaking.

Guests experienced "JYF History by the Pint" with The Revolutionaries at Virginia Beer Company (VBC) on May 24. Friends and history lovers gathered as Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation (JYF) tailor Samantha Bullat answered questions about historical clothing. Food was available to purchase from Old City BBQ. Members of The Revolutionaries and those who make a gift to JYF at VBC got their first drink free.

Reign & Rebellion Revolutionaries Reception

Attendees enjoyed an exclusive look into Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation's special exhibition, Reign & Rebellion, and celebrated the relaunch of The Revolutionaries giving society. The after-hours event, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., was hosted in the Jamestown Settlement Robert V. Hatcher, Jr. Rotunda and offered signature cocktails and themed bites from The Hound's Tale gastropub.
