During the 2022-23 school year, our educators offered workshops to K-12 educators through Zoom. These workshops explored different topics from Virginia and United States history and offered ideas and resources for sharing the content in the classroom.

Road to Revolution
October 2023

It took a number of years for the colonists to decide they no longer wanted to be British. Join us as we explore the events and issues that convinced the dissatisfied colonists to declare independence and continue on the road toward the American Revolution.

18th-Century Life and the Tobacco Economy in Virginia
February 2023

The colonial economy of Virginia in the 17th and 18th century was built on tobacco, and in turn, on mercantilism and the labor of enslaved individuals. Join us to learn about how tobacco affected the daily lives of people in Virginia and played a significant role in the American Revolution. Participants will gain historical content about the Virginia tobacco economy and activities to use in the classroom that build critical thinking skills.

Reign of the Stuarts and Our World Today
January 2023

Explore the background behind the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation’s previous special exhibition, Reign and Rebellion, which takes visitors through the history and legacies of England’s Stuart monarchy (1603-1714). Join us as we examine the impact of the Stuarts on the struggles and determination of those who lived in the colonies during their reign and explore the genesis of some of the principles that sparked the American Revolution against Great Britain, which continue to resonate today.
