Naturalization Ceremony at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown August 1 to Recognize New American Citizens

YORKTOWN, Va., July 30, 2018 – A naturalization ceremony for candidates receiving American citizenship will be held on Wednesday, August 1, at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. The event is hosted by the Yorktown Comte de Grasse Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation in partnership with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Department of Homeland Security.

One hundred eligible candidates will take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States and become American citizens. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the museum’s main theater and is open to the public on a space-available basis.

Linda Carter, USCIS Norfolk Field Office Supervisory Immigration Services Officer, will administer the Oath of Allegiance to participants, all of whom will be presented with a certificate of naturalization. Following the ceremony, members of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Honor Guard and the Fifes & Drums of York Town will escort the 100 participants from the museum’s main theater, along the Grand Corridor, to the artillery amphitheater for remarks and an artillery salute.

Prior to and following the ceremony, visitors are invited to tour the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, which tells anew the story of the nation’s founding through immersive gallery exhibits and historical interpretation in outdoor re-creations of a Continental Army encampment and Revolution-era farm.

Operated by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is located at 200 Water Street in Yorktown, near historic Yorktown and Yorktown Battlefield.

2018 general admission is $15.00 for adults and $7.50 for ages 6 through 12. Children under 6 are free. Residents of York County, James City County and the City of Williamsburg, including College of William and Mary students, receive complimentary admission with proof of residency.
