Summer History Camps

History camps returned safely during Summer 2022 at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, with enhanced protective measures and interactive learning opportunities for children age 4 to those who have just completed 1st-3rd grades and 4th-5th grades, offering two- and three-day on-site educational programs designed to inspire engagement with early American history.

Summer History Camp registration at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is online only and available first come, first served. Space is limited.

Information about camps for 2023 will be published as time for the program comes nearer. For reference, information from the Summer 2022 program is below.

Jamestown Settlement

4-6 Year-Olds – Jamestown Adventurers 
3-day session 
Come devour history as you learn the a-maize-ing way corn was vital to the Powhatan, what sailors supped at sea, and the convergence of cultures and cuisine at Jamestown.

1st-3rd Grade – Jamestown Discoverers 
3-day session
Come and play like the Powhatan, bust boredom like a seafarer, and make fun in the fort while you explore entertainment of the past. For children who have just completed grade 1, 2 or 3.

4th-5th Grade – Jamestown Explorers
3-day session
Do you see what I see? Explore how shared experiences can tell a different story based on the source. How did people in England know what life was like in Jamestown without the technology of today? For children who have just completed grade 4 or 5.

American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

4-6 Year-Olds – Yorktown Adventurers  
2-day session
Make some “thyme” to learn about growing goodies on an 18th-century farm. Then as some food for thought, discover what was needed to feed an entire army!

1st-3rd Grade – Yorktown Discoverers 
2-day session
Explore entertainment children enjoyed on an 18th-century farm. Pass time like a patriot in the Continental Army and learn about leisure in the life of a busy soldier. For children who have just completed grade 1, 2 or 3.

4th-5th Grade – Yorktown Explorers
2-day session
I spy with my little eye, something that starts with ‘E.’ Explore espionage in the American Revolution and learn the different techniques used by military and civilians. For children who have just completed grade 4 or 5.
