Apprentice for a week with Jamestown Settlement staff! Discover if you have what it takes to work in a museum as you work to design your own exhibit. Throughout the week, apprentices will be immersed in the museum world where they learn from education and curatorial staff about what it takes to storyboard, design, and present an exhibit.

Apprentices will form teams to prepare exhibits on housing, family life, food culture, and other aspects of Powhatan Indian culture. Along the way, they will work together to construct a portion of a yehakin, turn raffia into cordage, trade for valuable commodities, and explore the Powhatan Indian Village, permanent gallery, and Bartering for a Continent: How Anglo-Indian Trade Shaped America special exhibition.

The one week camp culminates when apprentices present their very own exhibits in a special showing of their exhibits to parents, friends, and Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation staff.

Camp attendance is limited to 24 registrants.

Tuition is $140 per camper. Jamestown-Yorktown Annual Fund Donors at the Rochambeau Club Level ($100) and above receive a 10% discount on this camp. For giving information, please call the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Development Office at (757) 253-4139.
